Vintage Blue Metal-Bound Travel Trunk / Storage Chest – Restoration Project

This large vintage blue travel/storage trunk has exactly the sort of honest, worn character that makes an unrestored piece interesting. Timber construction, black metal edging, riveted corner protectors and aged iron fittings give it a strong old-travel and industrial-storage look.

It could work as decorative storage, a display piece or as the basis of a restoration/upcycling project for someone who wants to put their own finish on it.

Condition: heavily aged and used. There is surface rust to the catches, hinges and metalwork; scratches, marks and wear across the blue exterior; the centre lock area is incomplete/damaged; and the interior lining is heavily worn and partially missing. Please study all photographs carefully — they show the actual trunk and form part of the condition description.

Why we saved it: it isn’t pristine and we wouldn’t want it to be. The appeal is in the shape, construction and years of visible use — all the ingredients for a great restoration or character storage piece.

Sold as a vintage decorative/storage item in unrestored condition.
